One genetically modified food is corn. The form of corn that is mostly geneticslly modified is bt-corn. Bt-corn is a sweet corn that has been modified to kill pests just like a pesticide, just without out the deadly chemicals. No pesticides means no harm to the environment and employees using the spray. Unfortunatly, the same modification that kills pests is also killing the monarch butterfly. According to the USDA, "farmers in every state in the U.S are growing at least some kind of GM corn at any given time. The numbers are higher in the Southern and Midwestern regions, but South Dakota leads the pack, lending 47 percent of its corn crops to GM varieties. Because the U.S is the largest producer of corn in the world, these numbers have a significant impact beyond the American borders."

AquaBounty is a private fish company. Their GM salmon are to be grown in fish farms and are supposed to be only twice the size as the regular salmon. AquaBounty says that by genetically modifying the foods in fish farms it reduces the amount of wild salmos caught and protects the fish from human harm. But, the major concern isn't the protection of the fish it's the impact the process of genetically modifying the foods has on the environment. We "know" GM salmon is ment to be very clean but, that is not entirely true taking into toll that the fishes DNA can mutate over time.
